An exciting year ahead of possibilities and a bit of (design) adventure...

Well, New Year greetings to everyone.

It's been a little while since I posted. I've been busy taking stock of last year and have been using these last few weeks since those busy months to restructure the layout of the studio. Which is coming together quite nicely. A much more creative and efficient space to work and think.

I'm itching to get prototyping some new ideas, as much to see that they work, so I'll be hiding out down at the MonkWorks™ (read "shed"!) putting things together and most likely pulling things apart...

I've also received word that the first batch of Knelt™ Adult is complete and will here by the end of the month. It would seem I've got a storage unit to rearrange too...

Knelt™ gets some great coverage this month...

Knelt™ has experienced a nice share of media coverage this over the past month.

Firstly was the result of an interview about Knelt™ and my approach to design with ubiquity design studio, for Future Space magazine by their editor Nick Carr. This magazine is very high end. We talked for over an hour exploring the concept of Knelt™ and my design values (which he has edited quite nicely).

ICON magazine have featured Knelt™ in the products section of their January edition and at the top their interior products page for ICONEYE

Angels & Urchins parenting magazine has recommended Knelt™ as "contemporary simplicity", which sums up the ethos of the design to a tee.

Sami the reindeer introduces her antlers to the world...

It has been a busy month.

Dealing with orders, interviews, magazines, PR and even some designing.

To tell  you the truth, I'm always designing as I interact with the world, people, media and the internet. However, some creations never quite get the chance to reach paper and find themselves residing in my minds eye, waiting for the opportunity to become a self indulgent expression of inspiration.

Sami the reindeer is such an example, of a shape that I came across quite some time ago and I found it crying out to be recognised as a young, very cute reindeer. So after some careful refining to capture her personality she has eventually become a laser cut plywood Christmas tree decoration, because with those antlers she really deserved to be out there in the world at this time of year.

Sami finally reached the manufacturer yesterday and will be made available next week. Keep an eye on my order page for when she goes live.

I've been meaning to do this for a while. This is the inspired art work created when the families turned up at 100% Design on the Sunday. It was all created by the families children who where only too keen to use Knelt™ to express themselves.
